There’s nothing like an Erie SeaWolves game at UPMC Park in the heart of downtown Erie. The SeaWolves, the Double-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, have been a launching pad for stars like Justin Verlander and Curtis Granderson. Throughout the season, the SeaWolves offer award-winning promotions and play under fun alternate identities such as the Moon Mammoths, which was branded and launched by Last Week Tonight comedian and host John Oliver.
The Erie Commodores bring fast-paced, senior-level soccer to the Erie Sports Center; the only club in the region to do so. As six-time NPSL Conference Champions, they’ve drawn talent from near and far while opening doors to college and pro play.
In the town of North East, Lake Erie Speedway brings the noise and the fun, with a lineup of high-octane events that keep crowds coming back each year. Monster trucks, drifting shows, and Crash-A-Rama chaos create big thrills and unforgettable nights under the lights from May through September.
Throughout the year, the Erie region hosts a diverse lineup of events like fishing tournaments, youth sports showcases, soccer championships, hockey tournaments, gymnastic competitions, and the signature Lake Erie Cyclefest. Cyclefest is an annual event of self-supported rides through some of the area's most scenic terrain. Cyclists of all ages and abilities can participate in rides along sandy beaches, old-growth forests, Downtown Erie, and Lake Erie Wine Country.
